Pay Day!!

I love payday. :-) I finally got to go scrape the bottom of the sale barrels and see what was left that I missed out on buying Sunday! Actually, I fared pretty darn well! And even came away with some unexpected deals!

First, I hit Rite Aid and just did an exact duplicate of my transactions sunday, but with My Mother-in-Law's Up card, since a lot of those offers had a limit of 1 UP+ reward. I don't consider this cheating because I often give them the things I buy couponing, but that's probably just a justification on my part. :-) I'm gonna keep right on justifying too. We just had to have more of those Shick razors and lysol supplies!

This time though, I added a little color to my basket! Ben didn't like the Gilette deodorant I bought last month (hey that's what this is about; trying new brands!) so I picked up some Old Spice at a steal.

This week Old Spice Deodorant, along with a few other brangs, was on sale 2/$5, with an additional $1 given as an UP+ reward on your receipt! There's a really generous limit of 4 Up+ for this deal, so I took advantage of them all!

Here's how it went down:

Bought 8 Old Spice Deodorant $2/5
Bought 8 Old Spice Body Wash @ $4.99
Used 8 Buy One O.S. Deodorant Get One O.S. Deodorant Free from the P&G insert 6/12
Used 8 $1/2 O.S. Products from P&G insert 6/12
Used $3/15 Store Survey Reward
Paid: $9, got $4 in UP+ rewards. Final Cost: $.31 each!

After a quick stop at The Original Coffee Brake - AKA Dayna's Second Home - I headed over to Safeway to see if they had anything good left, as Safeway seems to be THE destination for extreme couponers in our area. Man was I pleasantly surprised! I got everything I went in for, and more! The bulk of my spending $ was spent stocking up on Energy Drinks, a special request from my wonderful husband who has been working 55+ hour weeks for over 3 months now (Yeah. Seriously.) and is getting very tired of office coffee. But even those were a good deal!

I just did one transaction at Safeway (a nice break!) and here's what I got, broken down by deal.

Coca Cola Product Fridge Packs (12ct) on sale B2G2 Free @ $6.99. As an added bonus, you got 2 bags of their delicious Safeway brand "Snack Artist" chips. This was a good deal in itself, but since we don't usually drink soda and the chips were cheaper on their own, I probably wouldn't have gotten any. EXCEPT FOR....

My magical Tearpad Coupon.

Found these at Albertsons last week and, because I like to think of myself as a respectful and courteous shopper, I only took 12 of the 30+ on the tearpad. I hate finding an empty tearpad personally - almost as bad as finding a cleared shelf for a 'free' deal - so I refuse to do that to other people.

Anyway, when I grabbed this coupon it was sort of an impulse. I rarely buy crackers or Coke, so I wasn't sure I'd use it, but I took a few just in case a great deal came my way. And boy did it!

When I was at Safeway a few days ago, I noticed that there was a manager's special on the Wheat Thins Sticks, so they were marked down 50%. I think it's because they're a new product, because they don't expire anytime soon. I didn't buy them that day because they were $3.59/ea, and even at half off that's out of my price range for a luxury cracker item - even if I do love me some wheat thins. But I noticed in the sale ad this week that they Nabisco Crackers were going on sale for 2/$5, and thought I'd check to see if they were still there, JUST in case because if they were, I knew they'd combine with those coke deals to make a very pretty picture. :-)

Deal 5: Cereal! My mother-in-law is currently feeding EIGHT kids, so they go through an inconceivable amount of cereal. Everytime I can find a good deal, I pick some up for her. This week between Albertson's and Safeway, I bought her 16 boxes!

I also bought some produce, cheese, and small pizzas. I LOVE Safeway's cheese pizza. Simple and chewy and I get 3 meals out of a Small. I used coupons on several of these items as well.

All together I spent $103 and change, and saved $510!

Couponing Week of 6/12/2011 - - - $186.30 Retail for $9.96

Darn! There are so many good deals this week but because of bills, I have a whopping $4 to coupon with. Sounds impossible right?! Well, luckily I have some Register Rewards and there's a great Walmart moneymaker to fund a couple of small trips!

Walmart
First things first, gotta make some dough. Walmart has recently ammended their written coupon policy to specify that you can receive cash back if your coupon savings total more than the product cost. One of the many reasons "I heart the 'mart."

Ok! Now to spend my $10!

Albertsons
There were Twice The Value (double) coupons in the paper this week!! I love Albertsons. Here in Oregon they let us double a manufacturer's coupon up to $1! There is a maximum of 3 TTV coupons accepted per transaction, but I go right when the store opens at 6am on Sunday, so there's nobody to be bothered by my long checkout! I've had the same cashier the last few weeks, and she's as sweet as southern tea. I'm thinking about bringing her a coffee next week. :-)

TTV coupons pretty much guarantee I'm going home with a free item or two. Whenever I find out that they'll be in the Sunday paper, I scour the store ad for that week, looking for sale prices that, when combined with my coupons AND double coupons, will be free! This week, Ken's Salad dressing was on sale for $1.67! I've been holding on to these $1/1 Ken's coupons for a month now and I had started to doubt I'd find a good time to use them. Albertson's saved me with just a week to go before expiration! They were also running some good deals on Oscar Meyer goods (Save $5 When You Buy 5) and dishwasher detergent! I was, sadly, limited on taking advantage of these deals to their full stockpile worthiness, because of my low cash budget. But just like Krazy Coupon Lady says, there will always be another deal!

Rite Aid
Rite Aid is hands down my favorite place to coupon. I shop here weekly, and always come away with great stockpile items that I KNOW we'll use in the next 6 months.
